Resort Design | Karuizawa Resort

This project made the most of the hilltop location to renovate the entire Karuizawa Resort, with the auditorium at its core.
The ceiling features a three-dimensional curved surface made from GRG wood, while the walls, floors and furniture are made from a combination of natural materials such as teak and tiles, creating a space where dignity and warmth coexist.

The renovation incorporates the surrounding environment, which changes its appearance with each season, while carefully adjusting the way light enters, the flow of traffic, and the texture of materials to ensure that users can spend their time comfortably.

紅葉に彩られる秋の軽井沢。短い季節の美しさが敷地の魅力を引き立てる。
Karuizawa in autumn is colored by the autumn leaves. The beauty of this short season enhances the charm of the site.
高台に位置する講堂ホール。大きな開口部から眺望が広がる特別なロケーション。
The auditorium is located on a hill, in a special location with a wide view from its large opening.
空間構成を検討するために制作した大型模型。レイアウトやボリュームを精査。

腰壁にはチーク材、天井にはGRG材を用い、中央にはステンドグラスを組み込んでいます。
The waist-high walls are made of teak, the ceiling is made of GRG wood, and stained glass is installed in the center.
床はチーク材のヘリンボーン張り。温かみと重厚感が調和する仕上げ。
The floor is made of teak in a herringbone pattern, creating a harmonious balance of warmth and solidity.
英国製アンティークのマントルピースを採用。空間の象徴的なアクセントに。
An antique British mantelpiece is used as a symbolic accent for the space.
研修用途に合わせ、ホールはフローリングで明るく開放的な場に整えた。
To suit its training purposes, the hall has been furnished with wooden flooring to create a bright and open space.
既存暖炉は位置を変えず、下部をタイルで再構築し上質な印象へ。
The existing fireplace was left in its original position, but the lower part was reconstructed with tiles to create a high-quality impression.
既存のコンクリートの柱には、モザイクタイルを採用しました。円形に合わせた細いタイルを選定しました。
Mosaic tiles were used on the existing concrete pillars. Thin tiles were selected to match the circular shape.
廊下の改修。壁色と手すりを変えるだけで雰囲気が一新。
Renovating the hallway. Just changing the wall color and handrails completely refreshed the atmosphere.
ハードメープルを使用した手すり。加工が難しい材ながら職人技で丁寧に仕上げた。
The handrail is made of hard maple. Although it is a difficult material to process, it has been carefully finished with skilled craftsmanship.
廊下照明は洗練されたデザインで統一し、空間の質を高めている。
The hallway lighting is unified with a sophisticated design, enhancing the quality of the space.
冬の軽井沢。設備の凍結対策に細心の注意を払いながら改修を進めた。

浴室は全面リフォーム。素材と光の組み合わせで上質な癒し空間に。

All of the bathtubs are finished with custom-made tiles, emphasizing texture and expression.

脱衣室の壁はグラデーションタイルで構成。空間に柔らかな奥行きを与える。
